those five I know of , two are coworkers : people I see every day .
Those two were easier to sell on vaping because I paved the way , asking my newspaper ’ s managers about using PVs inside and checking with my office neighbors to make sure no one would take offense to the vapor . I pointed out the benefits to my bosses — increased productivity because of the elimination of smoke breaks , the fact that eLiquid vapor contains much fewer harmful chemicals , the fact that there ’ s virtually no such thing as “ second-hand vapor ”— and they agreed to let me vape at my desk . My former smoke-break buddies soon followed suit .
Outside of work , I ’ ve convinced a few friends to make the switch simply by hanging out with them , vaping along the whole time after a 5-minute conversation to explain what I was doing . I was willing to leave well enough alone after that , but the questions kept coming , slowly at first , and then a little more rapidly as the interest increased . Before you know it , I was helping them place their orders for their first starter kits .
Nothing attracts a conversation with a stranger like an interesting looking PV . If it ’ s not a Blu or another cig-alike device , people wonder about it . Is that thing a crack pipe ? A vibrator ? Whoa , look at that cloud — what IS that thing ?!
I ’ ve learned to grow a thick skin when people give me their first impression of my vaping gear . I ’ ve heard it all .
Pretty much every smoker who ’ s been at it for more than a few years has a desire to quit . It might be a little seed of an idea , an inkling in their subconscious . But more likely , it ’ s a thought that crosses their minds every time they light up . Smoking is a horrible , expensive habit . The health problems it causes are well documented , and the most telling smoking-related statistic is a body count . Smoking makes you smell bad . Smoking limits your dating
options . Smoking ages your skin , yellows your teeth and dulls your senses of smell and taste . Most smokers know these things . The ones that don ’ t are usually the ones that haven ’ t been at it long enough to really know any better .
But even though they know that , it doesn ’ t hurt to mention these things as a reminder . When I ’ m talking to a smoker about my decision to make the switch , I try not to come off as too preachy . I just explain to them that these are the things I had on my mind when I was trying to find something better — better for my health , better for my social life , better for my wallet . Most smokers can relate to these ideas : they already thought of them .
If you ’ ve ever been in sales , you know that part of sealing the deal is overcoming objections , and smokers are great at making excuses . Plenty of smokers have at least taken a puff or two off of a cig-alike . I ’ m sure a few people have succeeded simply with a Blu , but most of the vapers I ’ ve talked to don ’ t like them because of concerns about things like battery life , limited flavor options and price . Those things get brought up . My Vision Spinner with a carto tank filled with my favorite eLiquid tends to be the best way to overcome those objections . When you hear a smoker ask where you got it , you know they ’ re ready to go .
… and , some day , they ’ ll break even . EYE CATCHING MODS
