Yara inaugurates Europe’ s largest industrial carbon capture facility
Danfoss launches oil-free check valve production line in Mexico
Yara has officially inaugurated Europe’ s largest industrial carbon capture facility at its Sluiskil plant in the Netherlands, establishing a cross-border CO2 capture, transport, and storage chain. The facility can capture and liquefy up to 800,000 tons of CO2 annually from ammonia production. The CO2 will be temporarily stored at Yara Sluiskil before transport by Northern Lights vessels to Øygarden, Norway. Northern Lights will permanently store the CO2 2,600 m below the seabed. With the right framework
conditions in place, the project is expected to capture and store approximately 12 million tons of CO2 over 15 years. The project follows an agreement between Yara and Northern Lights signed in 2023 and establishes a cross-border chain covering CO2 capture, liquefaction, transport, and permanent storage.
Danfoss Climate Solutions has expanded its Monterrey, Mexico factory with a new assembly line for oil-free check valves designed for use with its Turbocor oil-free compressors. The new production line assembles oil-free check( OFC) valves, which combine a ball valve-style shutoff and a check valve in a single unit. The company said the valves reduce discharge pressure drop while increasing capacity and efficiency in Turbocor-based applications. Additional features include an integrated stop function, a damped check valve function, an integrated diffuser elbow, and an integrated staging port.
Ultimately, 12 models will be produced at the Monterrey site, available in 3 1 / 8 in and 4 1 / 8 in steel or solder flange options, with or without ball valves, in regular or compact sizes. Following a 2025 extension of the product range, production will include models to fit a range of application requirements.
