Networking
Valve World on tour: Take two
The Valve World team has been out of the office yet again, connecting with clients in Italy at the 15 th International Conference on Pressure Vessel
Technology( ICPVT) in Glasgow from the Institution of Mechanical
Engineers.

On tour with my colleague, Sales Manager Sjoerd Hesseling, during the ICPVT.
At the conferences
At the ICPVT, David Nash, Professor of Mechanics of Materials, started with a touching speech that included the quote,“ I rose because of a cup of coffee and a conference.” Because at a conference, in the coffee break, that was how he started to rise up in his career. People often forget the value of networking in person. It can be expensive to send out employees to conferences and exhibitions, but these are the very places that connections are made, and deals are signed. Valve World was lucky enough to have a tabletop at the ICPVT, where we met a variety of experts in heat exchangers, valves, piping and of course, pressure vessels. The span of intelligence in one room was almost overwhelming, with even representatives from Equinor present to hear about the industry’ s challenges and new advancements. People had come from all over the world, spanning from Australia, China, Japan and of course, our team from the Netherlands. Our team’ s role here was simple: to show off our brands and platforms that represent the communities of these industries. Whilst we are indeed a magazine, Valve World and its sister brands are more than that. We are an entire platform, brand and community for the industries we represent. We have thousands of followers, subscribers and readers from all over the world that we have the privilege to connect with, so at events such as the ICPVT, we love to share this and have the opportunity to grow our communities with more thought-leaders. And this is exactly what we did! And not only did we gain a wider following for our communities, but great friends and connections were made in the process.

With the clients
Being out and about also includes meeting and talking with our clients, face-to-face! In Italy, our team got to meet many friendly faces and have tours around their plants, which not only allows us to see firsthand what we write about, but also a glimpse into the manufacturing world. Having a tour of the factory at Petrol Valves showed how us not only how huge valves can be but also how detailed the process is. With inhouse testing facilities and sophisticated R & D, the detailed process becomes much smoother.
