Valve manufacturer targets first-ever 15,000-ton factory
Nigeria will soon house its first-ever industrial valve manufacturing plant as MT Valves West Africa. A subsidiary of global industrial giant MT Group has unveiled plans to establish a
15,000-ton capacity facility in the country. During a site visit by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, the company said the project
would fill a major gap in the country’ s oil and gas sector and stimulate local capacity development. Speaking, Mr. Thomas Zhang, Managing Director of MT Valves West Africa, said the factory would be sited at the Lekki Free Zone, in Lagos. Zhang noted that the new factory would focus on the design, assembly, maintenance and manufacturing of industrial valves for Nigeria’ s oil and gas, petrochemical and allied sectors.
The initial production target is 15,000 valves annually, with plans to scale up gradually. The company disclosed that some production equipment had already been installed, while other critical components are en route to Nigeria.“ We will also source raw materials locally where possible and work with Nigerian partners to ensure long-term sustainability. This is not just about business— it’ s about helping to industrialise Nigeria.”
U. S. thermoplastic ball valve manufacturer introduces new valve seats
Water treatment facilities, municipalities and potable water production plants across the globe are implementing remediation strategies to reduce or remove PFAS contaminants from their systems as the substances’ long-term health effects become more apparent.
To support these growing efforts, Hayward Flow Control announces new thermoplastic ball valve seats for their TBH Series True Union Industrial Ball Valves for PFAS Remediation. A first in the larger thermoplastic ball valve industry, the new valve seats use a polyethylene material known as UHMWHDPE.
Utilised for many years as an alternative to PTFE, UHMWHDPE offers increased toughness, impact and crack resistance, excellent abrasion resistance, and optimal chemical resistance, all of which are ideal for use in valve seats. Hayward’ s ball valve seats for PFAS remediation do not use PTFE or
related lubricants in the assembly process. The UHMWHDPE seats are also non-toxic, non-leaching and recyclable. They support the full pressure ratings of the TBH Series True Union Ball Valves and are available in sizes 1 / 4” through 2” / DN15 – DN50 with PVC and CPVC construction.
Replique nominated for German Founder Award
Replique, an on-demand manufacturing platform for industrial parts, has been nominated for the German Founder Award 2025( Deutscher Gründerpreis) in the StartUp category. The award recognises young companies that have successfully brought their business idea to market. Founders Dr Henrike Wonneberger and Dr Max Siebert bring deep expertise
in materials science and digitalisation from their careers in the chemical industry. Together, they developed a solution that makes part procurement simpler, cost-efficient, and risk-free.“ We’ re in an exciting phase of growth right now. Being nominated by the jury of the German Founder Award as one of the most promising startups is a strong signal for industrial and
tech startups that are shaping the digital transformation,” says Dr. Max Siebert, co-founder and CEO. Replique enables on-demand, decentralised production of spare parts, small to medium series, and specialised components – independent of traditional supply chains. The company leverages a qualified network of partners covering technologies such as 3D printing, CNC machining, forging,
casting and injection moulding. The German Founder Award is considered the country’ s most important award for outstanding entrepreneurs and is one of the most prestigious business honours in Germany. It is presented by the partners Sparkassen, ZDF, Porsche and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. The award ceremony will take place on September 9, 2025.
