industry update
25th anniversary of SVL Valve portfolio
Norway launches CCUS Innovation
Danfoss first introduced industrial refrigeration valves in the 1950s, yet the true groundwork for the SVL product line, as it’ s known today, was laid in 2000. SVL is the family name of the manual valves line covering the five functions Stop Valve’ SVA’, Regulating Valve’ REG’, Filter‘ FIA’, Check Valve‘ CHV’ and Stop- Check Valve’ SCA’. The fact that Danfoss produces all SVL valves in its own facilities has played a key role in the portfolio’ s success. Danfoss thoroughly tests valves before shipment, conducts durability
tests in on-site or affiliate laboratories, and carries out systematic field tests in realworld systems and installations. All Danfoss production facilities follow industry standards, such as ISO 21922-2021, PED, CRN, BV, and DNV. One change impacting the SVL portfolio is the increase in the scale of industrial refrigeration systems. Danfoss introduced a new range of SVL valves approved for up to 65 bar in 2018, and up to 140 bar in 2022. These valves meet the requirements of transcritical CO 2 systems.
Norway has announced the launch of its newest national innovation cluster – CCUS Innovation – bringing together the country’ s world-leading actors in carbon capture, utilisation and storage( CCUS). CCUS Innovation has been established through the Norwegian Innovation Clusters( NIC) programme – a governmentfunded initiative jointly run by Innovation Norway, SIVA, and the Research Council of Norway. CCUS Innovation brings together CCUS
Norway( managed by Carbon Limits) and CCS Innovation( managed by SINTEF), uniting 69 members from across a diverse range of sectors, including industry, finance, technology providers, research institutes, test facilities, and legal and advisory services. Hafslund Celsio, one of the first industrial emitters to capture and deliver CO 2 to Northern Lights, will play an active role in the new cluster, strengthening collaboration across the entire CCUS value chain.
Chemtech Industrial Valves hits milestone
Chemtech Industrial Valves Ltd has announced a key milestone with the supply of 100 patented Line Blinds across
major steel plants in India, just two years after receiving its patent. The Thane-based valve manufacturer, founded in 1997,
is now targeting adoption across ports, oil & gas, chemicals, marine, fertiliser, and power sectors. Line Blind technology has been deployed across pipelines ranging from DN 100 mm to DN 600 mm, with expansion already underway to serve larger diameters up to DN 900 mm and further development planned up to DN 1500 mm. The innovation is being widely adopted in industries managing hazardous gases such as coke oven gas, mixed gas, blast furnace gas, LD( BOF) gas, and nitrogen, with a
key focus on zero leakage and personnel safety. Chemtech said its tool-free Line Blind system cuts line-blanking time by up to 95 %, reduces manpower requirements, ensures full isolation, and enhances workplace safety— especially in high-risk environments like steel plants. Chemtech, which operates a manufacturing facility near Mumbai, aims to leverage this momentum to scale globally and expand industrial safety solutions for critical pipeline applications.
