New Faces

This year, Valley View High School got a total of eight new teachers. We interviewed one asking questions such as: why she decide to teach here and why she chose to become a teacher. Every teacher we have at Valley View is honestly amazing. They are shaping us into not only to good students, but into good people. We got two new English teachers: Mrs. Sullinger and Mrs. Dorris. Mrs. Sullinger has been teaching for seven years. Her favorite authors are: Edgar Allen Poe, Shakespeare, Nicholas Sparks, and Francine Rivers. Mrs. Dorris has been teacher for many years. VVHS also got a new drama teacher. His name is Mr. Despain. Another new teacher we got this year is Mrs. Chapman. She is our study hall teacher this year. The High School got two new math teachers: Mrs. Rutter, and Mrs. Foster. Mrs. Foster is the teacher who we interviewed in the video. We also got a new History teacher this year named Mrs. Mayfield. I had the pleasure of meeting her over the summer and she is so kind and sweet to everyone. You can tell that she has a true passion for teaching. The last new faculty member we got this school year is Mrs. Cossey. She is our new nurse for this year. She previously worked at the Junior High, but moved up to the High School when the positioned opened. All of the teachers at Valley View are certified in the state of Arkansas and have a craving for students to do well. High School is the building blocks of the rest of our life. It is important that we have great faculty to help us grow educationally and maturly. Luckily, here at Valley View, we have some of the best teachers in the state.

Who's who for VV Stuco?

Ever wonder how all the homecoming days get decided or who plans the Sadie Hawkins dance? They are the Valley View Student Council. We went behind the scenes to find out what their jobs were and how they liked running all the school events. We talked to Ms. Plunk who is the sponsor for the Student Council. She said she wanted to get more involved in the school so she took over sponsor after Mr. Flowers left last year. She also said that she

really enjoys being the sponsor. Then we talked to Tracy Tanner who is the President of the Student Council. She said that it is her responsibility to plan homecoming days and to plan the Sadies Hawkins dance. She said that they have the days planned for the upcoming homecoming. Monday is camo, Tuesday is tacky tourist, Wednesday is out of this world day, Thursday is throwback to middle school day, and then to conclude the week it is spirit day. Then we talked to the person behind the scenes of the Valley View Instagram, Emily Grace. She talked about all the things she had to aware of in order to keep the instagram up to date and inform all the students. Some include sports, theater, art, etc. She said that she has to make sure that she does not leave any of the groups out so that she can make sure that everyone feels like they belong. Lastly we talked to Devin Lipford who represents the 12th grade. His job is to give his insights on homecoming days and how to make them better. He also came up with the seniors shirts. By going behind the scenes we realized what hard work goes into being a student council member. And if you ever have any ideas on how you think the homecoming events and days could be better you can go talk to any of the members. By Tanner Jones, Johnathan Huey, Jared Burton
