MORE THAN
JUST A
PAINTBALL TEAM
One of the most common things you will hear
a member of the team proudly say is, “We are
more than Just a Paintball Team” But, what
exactly do they mean? Most importantly, why?
Back in the early days of 2007, I was asked by
a good friend to join him and bring back our
sleeping paintball team. To which I agreed,
but with a few caveat’s. One of those
being; Let’s use this new Team to give back
to our children and community. We both
shook hands and agreed on several other
points and further invited another friend in
to further support this new team.
W
atching the team come together over this
event and seeing the smiles on our faces
truly rang a bell with me. Not long later at
a Team BBQ the team agreed unanimously that we were now becoming
“more than just a paintball Team.”
We started giving back by
stepping up and assisting
our sponsor field (Weekend
Warriors Paintball) with a season
long series of tactical games.
Due to the amount of work
involved, we were only able to
field twice. However, we were
able to ensure that the tactical
series ran and that other teams
were able to play.
Since that day, we have joined
as a team to assist our sponsor
fields during paintball games,
TV commercials, assistance
for the Calgary Marathon, charity events for
food banks and Special
Olympics.
Furthermore, in our early days, being more than
just a paintball team meant taking time away
from games for team building, family BBQ’s,
geocaching and fishing trips. But, we were still
missing out on our idea of truly giving back.
Now 5 ½ years later, we still
proudly walk paintball fields the
streets and events of our
Community as Crimson Sabres.
“We are more
than just a Paintball Team” ... “It’s an
experience”.
