INTERNVIEWS AU BEAU Hi! What is your name and where are you from? My name is Beau and I am from Belgium, from Brugger. I am Flemish. What do you do Valencia? I came here in April to do my internship with Nini. I was organizing events, helping with the Festival Internacional Dels Idiomes, doing the marketing and comunnication. I studied communication, I have already graduated, now I only came to Valencia for vacation. What do you find different in Spain and Belgium? Oh, a lot of things. First of all flemish people are conservative, you can feel the work pressure there, you always have to remember about all the deadlines. They follow the traditions and the routine. For example they won't let their kids do hitchhiking. 20 years ago it was normal but now it is more danguerous so people don't travel that way. Another thing is that everything is always open from 7/8 o'clock in the morning. And in Spain from 9/10. Almost everything in Spain starts 2h later than in Belgium. In my country we have lunch at 12 and here they eat lunch at 14. Party starts at 23, when in Spain it starts at 1 o'clock. Here life is less stresfull, they just don't care that much and always repeat "maƱana". Did you know Spanish before? No, I have learnt Spanish here, in Valencia. I only learnt it from people, when you talk and listen a lot it is not that difficult to catch a language. Surely you have to check the basic rules, grammar and so on but you can learn a lot from poeple. Moreover I speak also Dutch, German, French and English. But I don't like English at all. I rather find it practical, everyone speaks English cause almost everyone knows it. But I don't like it. And I love the sound of Spanish, it is just beatiful. What do you like in Belgium? I have to confirm that we have really good beer, you should come to Belgium to try it. I also like the food, it is more stodgy than spanish food so you feel full after eating. My favourite dish is "Stoofvlees met frigten" which is a Flemish stew with french fries. PAOLA Can you present yourself in short? What is your name, where are you from, how old are you? My name is Paola. I am 27 years old, I am Italian and I am a student. When and why you came here? I arrived to Valencia last November for an 50
