PEÑISCOLA
Peñíscola is also called
"Giblartar of Valencia". The
name Peñíscola originated from
latin word - peninsula.
City is located in the coastline, about 2
hours from Valencia. It has an interesting
history even though the town is rather
small. The history of Peñíscola is made
by Iberians. After them the city was
Pheonician, Greek and later it belonged
to Carthaginians. The castle which is
situated in Peñíscola was built in 13th
century. James II Aragon gave the castle
to Templars in 1294. They have rebuilt the
castle totally. Knights Templar wanted to
develop the kingdom centred in Peñíscola.
The castle was involved in many military
conflicts among others of the kingdom
of Aragon. From 2013 Peñíscola is part
of The most beautiful towns in Spain
association.
CUENCA
Cuenca is the city built on
the rocks. It is a capital of the
province of Cuenca which
is already in Castilla and la
Mancha.

The name probably originated from latin
word cunca which means a „river basin”.
Another possibility is that it was derived
from name of Arabic Castle – Kunka.
Moreover sometimes Cuenca is called
Eagle’s nest beacuse of it’s position.
In 8th century Muslims realized the good
location of the place where Cuenca is
situated right now. For this reason they
have built a fortress between 2 gorges.
Before the city was uninhabited. The history
of the city is complicated, it was conquered
and captured many times. Interesting fact
is that in 12th century Alfonso VIII granted
the city a title „Very noble and very loyal”.
He gave the town few laws which were
considered a perfectly written set of laws
during these times.

pray you will obtain a five - year forgivness
for all of the sins.
