A PONCHO-FREE RAINY DAY PACKING LIST
A P ONCHO-FREE
Rainy Day Packing List
FOR OUTDOOR VACATIONS
Contributed by: Emily Ceskavich
One hour into my family’s first visit to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
in Orlando , it started to rain. This was not part of the plan when we began
building our ideas for this trip months earlier. Alas , there we were. Soaked and
scattered , along with hundreds of rushed park-goers.
Dress for the occasion
When the plastic bag I’m wearing keeps tearing,
bunching up, and flying up over my head whenever
the wind catches a good gust , I find it hard to
fully immerse myself in an outdoor experience.
If you feel uncomfortable in a bulky poncho, an
alternative is to work water-resistant items into
the outfit you plan to wear that day.

Skip the umbrella.
Bring a raincoat.
Umbrellas are bulky , difficult to control in the wind,
and you’ll have to use up one of your hands to
carry it. Opt for a light raincoat with a hood and
pockets. One that is long enough to cover your
derriere so you can sit down without getting your
pants wet.
