BLACK WOMEN ’ S BLUEPRINT is actively working to intensify its violence prevention strategies with communications consultants who can develop a social-media campaign targeting men in particular . Funds went to support the our # DearBrother Campaign is offering direct messaging targeting potential batterers to discourage gender-violence and the abuse of girls in Black communities , especially in the midst of anti-police protests and in racial justice spaces . The funds will be used to partner with Black men in our communities and for partnering with local Brooklyn organizations in online initiatives offering new guidelines for protecting each other during the COVID19 crisis . Funds also supported a partnership with Running River Collective , a group led by men for men , which is working to develop somatic and mental health strategies that directly invite men to cope with feelings of tension , anger , rage , helplessness , power and control and de-escalate themselves in incidents of tension and violence .
CARIDAD YENEDIT PEREZ DESPAIGNE , also known as ‘ Luz de Cuba ’ is an Afro-Cuban priestess and griot of AfroPoeBaila . Her art is an ancestral and futurist blend of spoken word , Afro beat , popular wisdom , feminism , electronic music , Yoruba prayers and an interpretation of instrument / deity Sekereo . Luz was featured on the Voices Listening Tour and also did outreach to artist communities for the new VOICES artistic piece .
COALITION AGAINST TRAFFICKING IN WOMEN is a women of color-led organization that partners with survivors , social justice advocates and direct service providers who fight to protect the rights of women and girls in law and in practice . Every day , they witness the disproportionate impact of racism and misogyny on women and girls of color , especially Black women and girls , who are more likely to be sex trafficked , sexually violated and exploited , while criminalized for their own exploitation . They work to advocate for strong anti-trafficking laws , ensure governments provide services and exit strategies for victims of sexual exploitation , raise public awareness , and support survivor leadership globally .
COMMUNITY SAFETY NETWORK ’ s mission is to support lasting change for those lives that have been affected by intimate partner violence , sexual violence and stalking . CSN serves all survivors , no matter their gender identity , through a trauma informed , client centered approach and also provides community based anti-violence education and prevention which includes programming that addresses issues surrounding gender . This programming is provided in the community , school system and directly with law enforcement . Funds went towards their general work .
