Letter From the President
Dear UVU PR Crew,
Welcome back to campus!
This month, PRSSA chapters across the nation are celebrating Career Development Month! Career development should be an extremely vital component of all our colligate lives. After spending so much time and money gaining an education, we should work to reap the benefits of said education right away correct? ABSOLUTELY.
Below you will find a few helpful tips from PRSSA National and yours truly regarding ways that YOU can better prepare yourself for a career.
#1.) Engage in the national conversation
Following @prssanational and the hashtag #PRSSACDM on all social media channels throughout the month will provide you insightful tips, assistance with interview prep as well as Q&A sessions with PR professionals.
#2.) Visit the Career Development Center at UVU
Whether it’s help with your resume, tips regarding career or gathering info about grad school – this center is your one stop shop! Regarding resumes specifically. Let’s be honest… ALL of our resumes could use some help in this area. With the start of a new year, I would encourage us all to perfect our resumes ASAP. Small errors on one’s resume could be the difference between getting a job and not making the cut so take the time to get it looking sharp.
#3.) Acquire an internship
NOTHING will better prepare you for post-grad life than interning. Just to be clear, this does NOT need to wait until your senior year. In fact, I wish I had started applying for internships as a freshman! If you need help finding an internship suitable for you, reach out to Jeff Allan on the PRSSA Executive Board ([email protected]) or attend UVU’s Internship Fair on Jan. 26 from 10 - 3 in the Grand Ballroom.
Until next time Wolverines!
