Since graduating from UVU in 2014, McKenzie Haggard has been rocking the world of PR. Leaving UVU with a handful of awards from PRSSA, she immediately set to work building her career. She secured

a spot for a startup company, Raise, on

Good Morning America and landed a piece

on BuzzFeed for Stance. Within two years

of graduating, McKenzie was selected by

Business Insider as one of 2016’s

Top 50 Best Public Relations Practioners in

the tech industry.

McKenzie stated that taking part in company

storytelling, (espcially a story that otherwise

would not have been heard), has been the

highlight of her career. “It is satisfying to

help clients share their vision with

a broader audience. I really thrive in that element," she stated.

"For those wondering if they should be a part of PRSSA," she stated, “I would encouage them to DO IT. Membership shows a level of dedication and commitment to UVU’s program and the industry.” McKenzie went on to say that being a part of PRSSA helped her meet and network with professionals in the PR field. She was even able to line up an agency opportunity after graduation through the agency tours featured in PRSSA. "The orgnization also builds skills that every student will need to enter the PR field," McKenzie advised. “Every student that has a desire to work in PR should put considerable time into refining their writing and research skills during college.”
