Gas Management Ever see half of the wreck and find yourself too low on gas to see the real highlight? Or, worse yet, not having enough gas to get back to the anchor line, and then have to do a free ascent in the mid water hoping the boat will come pick you up. Just as you can figure out in a car whether a third of a tank of fuel is enough to get you to the next gas station, so you can estimate the amount of gas you will need for any dive you want to do, and then adjust the plan on the fly. You can follow along on the gas management worksheets at the appendix of this document to follow along. Let start with a simple example and then we can get more complicated. Here is a step by step process for a Recreational Diver. - Use the Recreational Gas Planning Worksheet.
