USS Niagara Membership Handbook & By?Laws
Section 2: Member Service Records
Service Records will be maintained on all members of the USS Zavala. Should a member
of the USS Niagara resign or be removed, they will be entitled to keep their record. If contact
cannot be established with any former?member, or should they request it in writing to the
Commanding Officer, their record will be destroyed.
Section 3: Awards and Citations
Awards and Citations will be offered to members for exemplary actions/conduct as set
forth by the STARFLEET Awards program. The Commanding Officer (or his/her designee) shall
make recommendations to the Region 7 Awards Director or Regional Coordinator annually.
Individual members are also encouraged to make recommendations for awards at the
region/fleet level. The Commanding Officer may also create ship level awards for recognition of
USS Niagara members.
Article XII
Amendments to By?laws
These by?laws, and all provisions herein, may be amended with permission of the
Commanding Officer or majority of the command crew. Only if any changes are made to the
Chapter By?laws will a new version will be published. Should the Chapter By?laws be updated to
correct typographical or grammatical errors, a notice shall be sent to the members of the
Chapter, but the recent version will still be considered valid.
Article XIII
Ratification
By majority vote of affirmation, we the members of the USS Niagara ratify these by?laws
to be in full effect beginning on January 1, 2012. We understand that any laws of the United
States of America, the State of New York, the County of Erie, and any local municipalities will
take precedence shall there be a conflict with these by?laws.
