The Meat Packing industry in Uruguay is the second biggest in the world. They send their fine cuts of cow, to over eighty countries. In Uruguay, it is illegal to use any growth hormones so their cattle remain without any. These cattle also go without by-products or corn in their food and are strictly grass fed. This causes Uruguayan meat to be leaner and low in bad fats and high in good ones like monounsaturated fat that does not raise cholesterol or Omega 3. Customers also find comfort in the company having the ability to trace all their beef. Although Brazil and Argentina are bigger, Uruguay consumes more meat per square capita, which makes them in need of a great meat industry. So, the question is, what makes their meat so great it leaves people coming back for more? Maybe it’ s because they raise their cows in large open fields in a comfortable climate. Or because they ensure great quality cuts of cow in every shipment. Or maybe its even the fact they were praised by New York Times for their job well done. Uruguay is filled with beautiful buildings, fun people, and exciting attractions. These things fuel the Uruguay tourism industry. In 2005 they had around 500,000 tourists and since then the tourist rate went up 600 % In March 2010 they created a Five Year Plan for attracting more people to their country. This fluctuation in visitors has caused for the creation of jobs that lower the unemployment rate. It hit an all time high in 2011 with a total of 3 million visitors.
