Sustainability HARVEST CANOPY In response to the deprived residence of Westbourne Green, and the physical isolation of all three community residences due to canal acting as a barrier, this project counters the deprivation of these communities. The architecture could create a social sustainable environment, effective but fun, encouraging neighbours to work together as a community and make it a unique asset of Maida Vale. A community centre and an integrated 146 metre canopy footbridge as part of the new fresh produce market space that lies across the canal. As the Harvest area matures and grows across the canopy, the building will gradually merge with its community park at Westbourne Green, becoming an abstract and sculptural green land-form that punctuates the park boundary and visually merges with the adjacent angle canopy structure.
