That life hasn’t necessarily been the most pretty. Among the many things Jenn has dealt with, topping it all was a serious bout with depression that literally could have taken her out. By the grace of God, she made it through with an amazing story to tell. In the end, that story is one of triumph!

U.G. Digital Mag: It’s always amazing when I connect with people face to face, and I can’t help but go back to the show when we had you on Citywatch. That was amazing in itself.

Jenn Williams: It really was amazing for me. A lot of people were looking like, what the f*ck are they talking to her for?

U.G. Digital Mag: Well we kinda got the stares too, like why is she talking to them. There’s so much hatred floating around, and it’s really sad.

Jenn Williams: It’s good though because it shows where we are.

U.G. Digital Mag: I hope people reading this are able to get a sense of who you are, and ultimately who we, ourselves, are. We’ve bonded as entrepreneurs in a way like never before. After all, we have been sitting here for an hour, albeit talking about the craziness out there [hysterical laughing], but it’s been an hour. It’s like there’s just so much.

Jenn Williams: There’s a lot of broken people out there, period.

U.G. Digital Mag: That’s what it is. But as you know, we titled this Regal, Urbanized, and Unapologetic, and it fits you perfectly. That is you. You’re classy, all about your business and doing an amazing job. This article is an amazing way to speak of your growth in an industry that technically doesn’t accept you in the way you want to be accepted, and that goes for all women. They look at women like they can’t do it.

Jenn Williams: Right.

U.G. Digital Mag: I think back to the days of being in the car and hearing blaring across the radio [singing the them song to “Mama I Want to Sing”] the commercial for “Mama I Want to Sing”.

Jenn Williams: [laughing] You took it way back.

U.G. Digital Mag: And Shelly Garrett’s “Beauty Shop”, he was on such another level. Having the opportunity to talk to him for Indie Soul Saturdays was so amazing. You notice too, we called you a Dramatist, because I feel like the world of your peers are calling themselves Playwrights. You’re more than just a Playwright though. There’s drama all throughout your stories.

Jenn Williams: It’s funny because I am that though.

U.G. Digital Mag: I thought you would ask “what the hell is that”.

Jenn Williams: But I thought about it and I am a dramatist. I fully embrace it because that’s what I’m about. My work is dramatic.

U.G. Digital Mag: It’s stuff that everyone experiences, including yourself. It’s your life in a nutshell. How freeing is that for you, in the sense of probably being someone who has held things in for some time. How is it to finally release this way?

Jenn Williams: When I first wrote “In My Mind”, it was so therapeutic for me. I didn’t realize I had so much built up from relationships. I had certain things that I remembered more than anything else. There were so many of those moments.

U.G. Digital Mag: Everyone goes through that. You just listened to my whole story of people I’ve worked with, and for, and how as a human being, I’m still upset at certain things.

Jenn Williams: Once you let someone get that out there for you though, and write about you, it all comes together.

U.G. Digital Mag: But look though, you know I’m still trying to get in the web series … lol.

Jenn Williams: You’re in it for sure.
