What? So what happened then? How did you make it to the finish line? I downloaded Final Cut and dude gave me the raw footage. I locked myself into a room, taught myself to use Final Cut, and stayed up 18 hours until I got it done. My music production knowledge aided me greatly because I was already used to chopping wave files. The artist loved the video so it was a win-win situation. I remember working in the barbershop; I used to chop up football highlights with go-go beats behind it never knowing that 20 years later, it would come in handy. What makes SouthernSounds different from the competition? We take pride in our craft. Who are some of you influences? Brendan Mattingly was a huge inspiration and helped me a lot. He's a true professional! He's the guy who shot the Buster Brown picture, Under Armour campaign for the Maryland Terps, Ray Lewis, as well as the original Bullets basketball team. He taught me everything from lighting to how use to camera; he crammed it into a year. I filmed a concert with the Blackbirds. What advice would you give someone interested in filming videos? It's a lot of learning! Don’t just learn how to shot. Do your homework, research, find someone you admire and try to emulate them, and use them as a learning crutch then put your own spin on it. Learn your craft! Now SouthernSounds also has a great relationship with cable TV. Tell me more? Yes, we have been doing business with them for a while so we know their specs for commercials. We currently have/ or had several commercials running on Comcast stations like Bravo , VH1, and the Food Network to name a few.
