At 1,568 Miles, I-35 is the third-longest of the major North-South interstate routes. I-35 splits into 35E & 35W in two spots, in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area (at Hillsboro, TX) and again into Minneapolis, Minnesota. It runs parallel or concurrent to US 77 for much of its length, with 77 marking its own route only in a few places, including from Hillsboro to Waxahatchie. Triangulation As 35 was being built through northern Iowa in the 1960s, running on a diagonal route parallel to US 65, local farmers objected to their farms being bisected into triangular pieces by the highway, and resulting litigation delayed I-35 in that area for several years.
