GOLF MASTERS PREVIEW

The eagerly anticipated Masters Tournament starts this Thursday as the top golfers battle it out to take home Augusta’s famous green jacket. The event kicked off earlier this week with the first ever Drive, Chip, Putt competition for children aged 9-15. This new initiative saw children as young as 10 driving the ball 200 plus yards, and 9 year olds sinking 30 foot putts. The hope and aim of this amazing new idea is to both showcase young talent from across the world and also hope that one day one of these young golfers will return to put on a green jacket themselves.

The actual Masters major was scheduled to get underway on Monday for practice however poor weather conditions grinded the competition to a halt before it had even begun. However, Tuesday morning did see the likes of McIlroy get their first round at Augusta under their belt.

As favourites go, it’s hard to look past Adam Scott, the world number two, who has been in inspired form for the last year. Of course over 4 days of golf any number of people could get a decent score together so it would be foolish to write off the likes of McIlroy, Rose, Watson, Garcia, Stenson, Day and Mickelson. Even the young up and coming Jordan Spieth might be one to watch.
