Monique's Movie Picks
Hello readers and friends. So here we go again, taking another quick spin of the movie wheel and its stops on...Yes one of my favorites: mobster/gangster movies, gotta love it. It was so hard to Choose Just three but I managed to pick the ones that I liked and the ones I'm sure you all know and love as well. So here we go:
1. The Godfather Trilogy (1972, 1974, 1990) - It is an American epic crime film based on the classic novel written by, Mario Puzo. The movies chronicle the experience of The Corleone Family, an Italian-American family during the 1940s who became one of the strongest and most respected families in New York City. After the head of the family, Vito Corleone is shot and hospitalized, Vito's sons take control of the family business. With things falling apart and Vito's oldest son shot to death, his youngest son Michael takes hold of the reins and runs things. During the era, Michael puts order back within the business by "making offers that no one can refuse".
2. New Jack City (1991)- Is a crime film that takes place in New York City. Its based on a rising drug lord named Nino Brown, who is in search of money and power, and will do anything to get it. His plan is to the world by taking advantage of The Crack Epidemic. But Nino has the cops hot on his trail. To bring him down they put a young detective undercover to work in Nino's gang and he stops at nothing to bring the Drug lord down.
3. American Gangster (2007) - Is an American biographical crime film that is based on the life and criminal career of Frank Lucas, originally from La Grange, North Carolina who takes over the streets of Harlem with his product known as "Blue Magic". But when a Newarka detective named Ritchie Roberts gets wind of the numerous people overdosing on Blue Magic he puts together a team to find out who the man behind the product is and to put him away for good.
