Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology( NEW)
The College of Sciences, in collaboration with the University of Sheffield in the UK now offers a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology for the first time in the UAE. The program will familiarize you with performing highly technical procedures fundamental to biotechnology such as DNA extraction, polymerization by the Polymerase Chain Reaction( PCR), electrophoresis, and tissue culture maintenance. Careers in biotechnology include opportunities in biomedical research, pathology laboratories, biotechnology industries, and agricultural support industries. You may pursue careers in research and development, medical diagnostics, therapeutics, food processing, and manufacturing.

Three faculty members from the UOS Chemistry Department received the award for“ Best Published Scientific Paper” in the area of Basic and Applied Sciences at the 5th Annual Scientific Research Forum held at the University of Sharjah, organized by the College of Graduate Studies and Research( April 29, 2009) for the paper entitled,“ Inhibition of Carbon Steel Corrosion by 4-vinyl-benzyl triphenyl phosphonium chloride in HCl Solution.” Award Winners: Ayssar Nahlé, Ideisan Abu-Abdoun, and Ibrahim Abdel-Rahman.
