Higher Degree Research Programs
UNSW Law & Justice is a leader in legal research and , in addition to the work of its Faculty members , has a strong cohort of research students enrolled in two research programs : Doctor of Philosophy ( PhD ), Master of Laws by Research ( LLM by Research ) and the Master of Philosophy .
Graduate Diploma in Legal Professional Practice ( GDLPP )
Practical Legal Training ( PLT ) is a requirement for admission as a lawyer in Australia . The UNSW GDLPP is a practice ready PLT program that ’ s innovatively designed to surpass entrylevel professional competency standards by developing both practical skills and proficiency in day-to-day legal practice .
The UNSW PLT is a 20-week program made up of coursework and workplace experience . In NSW , it ’ s possible to commence your PLT earlier if you ’ ve completed all prescribed (‘ Priestley 11 ’) core courses and have no more than two electives to complete in your LLB / JD or equivalent qualification .

UNSW EDGE – Providing adaptive , relevant legal education for life
UNSW EDGE , formally the Faculty ’ s Centre for Continuing Legal Education ( CLE ) has been providing continuing professional development ( CPD ) courses to the legal profession for over 25 years . UNSW Edge ’ s offering has expanded to include live streamed and in person seminars and workshops , as well as online on demand courses for legal professionals . Recognising the evolution of other professions , UNSW Edge also offers legal learning opportunities for related industries through on demand online modules and in person workshops specifically designed for non-legal audiences .

We are members of the Law Schools Global League and the PLuS Alliance with King ’ s College London and Arizona State University .
UNSW Law & Justice and Hong Kong University Law Faculty have a memorandum of understanding that provides UNSW Law students studying a LLB or JD the opportunity to pathway into an LLM at HKU .
We are very proud that almost 50 per cent of our graduating students have had an international mobility experience , either through exchange , undertaking one of our short overseas elective courses , or through an overseas internship program . We have short overseas course opportunities at the University of Zurich , Columbia University ( New York ), the University of California Berkeley , the University of the South Pacific , the Indian Law Society ( Pune ), VM Salgaocar College of Law ( Goa ), Tsinghua University , Shanghai Jiao Tong University and University Diego Portales ( Santiago ). Student participation in these programs is often supported financially through grants from the New Colombo Plan .
We have more than 80 exchange destinations , including the University College London , University of Edinburgh , Lund University , Boston University , University of Toronto , Tsinghua University , University of Hong Kong , National University of Singapore , Jindal Global Law School ( India ) and through ACICIS Study Indonesia .
