Making research with queer and trans people , and people with variations of sex characteristics , more inclusive
RESEARCH GROUP
The continued explicit or implicit exclusion of queer , trans , and people with variations of sex characteristics ( intersex people ) from public , social , and cultural life has long-reaching implications – and this often starts in research and associated practices . Despite the proliferation of inclusive language guides , there is no ' one size fits all ' model that can meaningfully respond to the varied , complex and intersectional aspects of inclusivity .
The CoPQTI was founded to establish a program of activities to build connections and capacity across the university in inclusive approaches to research with queer and trans people , and people with variations of sex characteristics ( intersex ). This includes health and medical research . The CoPQTI provides evidence-based advice on how to ensure that research design , practice and reporting is appropriate to the LGBTIQA + communities .
It aims to generate and support enhanced capacity in sector-leading inclusive practice with queer , trans , and intersex people through advice , higher degree researcher and staff training , interdisciplinary research , and by serving as a central platform to generate interdisciplinary consideration of complex requests for advice from UNSW and beyond .
