Since we submitted our
2019 SIP report , UNSW has reached many goals in social impact and sustainable development . I am pleased to outline a selection of these achievements here .
> Establishing a university-wide SDG Steering Committee to develop , coordinate , monitor , evaluate and communicate the University ’ s engagement with the SDGs . See Section 2.1 .
> Achievements against our Environmental Sustainability Plan including realising our long-held vision to achieve net zero emissions from building energy use , in November 2020 . See Section 2.5 .
> Developing the UNSW SDG Toolkit in 2020 , to provide a platform for teachers and students to integrate sustainable thinking across curriculum and education platforms . See Section 3.2 .
> Launching the International Universities Climate Alliance in April 2020 , bringing together 48 of the world ’ s leading climate research universities to engage and advise governments , industry and communities across the globe about the action required to address climate change . See Section 5.7 . significant initiatives in research , educational programs , partnerships with industry , governments and business , and engagement with the community . These initiatives have been integral to the ongoing implementation of Strategy 2025 .
UNSW Sydney and the UNSW Business School value our association with the UN PRME organisation greatly , and the contribution this makes to shaping our practice . We are proud of our shared vision of tackling real-world problems through partnerships that bring the UNSW and broader community together , aligning our efforts with our University ’ s expertise and research strengths , Australia ’ s aspirations and the UN Sustainable Development Goals .
