Challenge
Worldwide, dementia affects more than 55 million people and costs more than US $ 2t. By identifying and addressing risk factors for cognitive decline, CHeBA aims to delay the onset of dementia. Every year of delayed dementia onset will cumulatively reduce the number of people affected by 10 %.
Solution
CHeBA’ s Maintain Your Brain online program helps older adults reduce risk of cognitive decline through lifestyle changes. It has shown the best results yet in improving cognition, is costeffective and is ready for largescale rollout.
CHeBA leads the global COSMIC consortium of 60 + studies identifying risk and protective factors for cognitive decline.
To boost collaboration, CHeBA developed the Dementias Platform Australia – a shared
data platform that strengthens research by enabling researchers worldwide to work together more effectively.
Target customers / end-users
• middle-aged and older people in the community

Healthy Living
CHeBA is a leader in bringing together multiple studies from around the world to develop the epidemiology of dementia further, address global inequities in such research and expedite outcomes for dementia. CHeBA’ s best hope is that the centre’ s research will lead to a reduction in dementia incidence and / or delay its onset through intervention on modifiable risk factors.
