Can Guy raise a WWII bomber from its watery resting place ? In 1943 , after a night raid on industrial Germany , a Lancaster Bomber ED603 crash-landed in an inland sea in the Netherlands . All of the crew died but only four bodies were recovered . Three are still on board . Follow Guy Martin as he and a team of experts attempt to recover the bomber from the depths of the sea to give those courageous airmen the military funeral they so rightfully deserve .
While reclaiming the Lancaster form the depths is the main narrative , along the way Guy meets the families of the crewmen who have remained in their flight positions for almost 80 years . He finds out more about the crew and how they were part of a special elite force called The Pathfinders and discovers what their vital role was in the fight against Nazi Germany .

For one working week at a time , he ’ ll live and breathe the job , undergoing essential training , living with his co-workers and just doing what Guy always does – grafting .
