Kaeleigh Criniti Serial Killers The purpose of my research study is to see if students at Gwynedd Mercy University associate an individual’s intelligence level, specifically serial killers, with how attractive they view the person. Hollywood makes us think that serial killers are both considered intelligent as well as attractive, despite contrary evidence about actual serial killers. Kamrin Kutlus The Economic Impact of Human Trafficking The purpose of this infographic is to present information on the amount of cash flow that contributes to the global economy due to human trafficking. The main focus will be on just how much money is being made by traffickers and how vital this cash flow is to economies around the world. Mackenzie R. Iocona Sex Trafficking Legislation in the United States According to the law, anyone under the age of 18 who is selling sex is automatically considered a victim of trafficking. The landmark “Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000” laid the initial groundwork for the federal government’s response to human trafficking. More recently, Congress has continued to build on this foundation, ultimately expanding the U.S. strategy to combat sex trafficking and labor trafficking through a holistic, multi-agency approach. Michael McKenney Recognition of Human Trafficking as a First Responder As a first responder, there is an increased chance that you will come into contact with the victims of human trafficking and/ or child sex trafficking. This presentation will provide you the knowledge to recognize the signs to look for and give advice for how to properly react when you believe a member of the public may be the victim of trafficking. Robert Wilson The 1994 Assault Weapons Ban and its Effect on Violent Crime This study will evaluate the effectiveness of the 1994 assault weapons ban by conducting statistical analysis on Uniform Crime Reporting Data. As violent crime is often correlated with guns, specifically assault-style weapons, this study will aim to determine whether effective legislation will be able to reduce violent crime within states and over time. 9
