Thin kerf sawmilling
success at DelhiWood
Thin-kerf sawmill manufacturer WoodMizer repor ts a busy stand at
DelhiWood, where the company presented its wide range of equipment for
small-medium and larger companies.
Wood-Mizer's recently appointed
country manager for India, Bobby
Joseph, was on the stand to welcome
visitors and discuss their needs.
"We made many new contacts and
generated a good level of enquiries for
our products", said Bobby.
"There was particular interest in our
new WM1000, which can cut tropical
hardwood logs up to 1.5m diameter and
has been designed especially for
sawmillers in Asia. This allows us to
serve a new section of the market, and
judging by the reaction of visitors the
new sawmill will be a successful
development for us.
"Our Small Log Processing line for
efficient and cost-effective processing of
small logs for applications such as
fencing and pallet material and other
thin boards has already proved popular
in the region, including several
installations in India, and continued to
appeal to visitors at DelhiWood.
"We also attracted a lot of interest in
our 'Orange' range of sawmills,
especially the LT20, LT70 and LT70
Remote - with an order for the last of
these taken during the exhibition".
The company's own-manufactured
thin-kerf sawblades, which are designed
to give accurate cutting with minimal
waste and are suitable for all makes of
sawmill as well Wood-Mizer's range,
were also presented at DelhiWood.
Wood-Mizer arrived at the exhibition
having just concluded a sale to one
customer of two LT20B sawmills - which
have a modular bed to which sections
can easily be added to allow the
increasingly popular practice of loading
two logs end-to-end and sawing both in
one pass of the head - together with the
E400 edger saw. This is the first E400
edger to be sold in India, and allows
sawmills to add value to their operation
by producing square-edged boards from
cants that have been cut from the log on
the sawmill.
"It was a good show for us", said
Bobby. "We arrived on a high note after
that sale just before the show and we
ended on a ‘high’ because of the
business and potential business on the
stand".
