oolmax Heating and Air was
founded in 2000, by David
Ussery.
Ussery attributes his success
and growth to God and the sup-
port and recommendations of his
clientele.
Advertising has not been a top
priority for Coolmax, as his cus-
tomers have always assisted in di-
recting business to him.
“We knew if we did a quality and
professional job, people would
spread the word,” says Ussery.
“One job turned into two jobs, two
into three — clients continued to recommend us, and before we knew
it, we were well established.”
A graduate of Georgia College, Ussery moved to Florida to take on
an internship as an athletic trainer for a minor league baseball team.
Not long after, Ussery was back in Milledgeville to begin Coolmax
with his wife, Jill, who is the office manager at the Milledgeville lo-
cation. The two met in David Ussery’s last elective class at Georgia
College. It did not take long until homesickness for Milledgeville set
in and they willingly returned.
Neither David nor Jill ever imagined that
soon, they would be operating a thriving heat-
ing and air conditioning business.
Coolmax primarily does retro fits, repairs
and service maintenance for both residential
and commercial establishments, but also of-
fers a bulk of other services. Clean air quality
control is a major emphasis for Coolmax, of-
fering duct cleaning, anti-microbial fogging,
and air cleaning systems.
“We also offer duct design and zone sys-
tems. We work on many homes with outdated
systems. If your home is 10 to 15 years old, the
heating and cooling system has started to lose
its efficiency,” says Ussery.
Coolmax has two offices: one in Milled-
geville and one in the Lake Oconee area.
Coolmax services all surrounding counties
including: Baldwin, Jones, Hancock, Put-
nam, Greensboro, and more. Although it does
a majority of residential work, Coolmax has
worked at multiple commercial locations, as
well, such as the Macon Mall, the Shoppes at
River Crossing, Georgia College, and several
restaurant chains.
