Eric’s mom and dad split before he was born. His mom was always emotionally distant with him. His grandmother said it was due to her not being ready to have a child and not knowing how to communicate with a child. When Eric was 8 years old, his mom remarried a guy who one year later starting beating Eric and continued to do so over and over again until he was 16 years old.
