What ’ s this course about ?
This course is accredited by the RSB and the IBMS . After your second or third year , you can choose to do a placement in an IBMS-approved lab for a year – essential experience if you want to register with the Health and Care Professions Council ( HCPC ) and work in the NHS . During your studies you ’ ll develop skills using industry-leading equipment in our labs and simulation facilities , and have the chance to get involved with internationally recognised biomedical research into fields like neuro-oncology .

112 – 120 from 3 A levels , or equivalent , to include 40 points from Biology and 40 points from a second Science subject or Mathematics .

Get the skills , knowledge and experience needed for registration with the GDC , which is essential for practising as a dental hygienist . You ’ ll learn to use the latest technology in our Dental Academy , which features treatment bays , surgeries , phantom head room , haptics suite , decontamination suite and radiography booths . Studying alongside dental therapy , dental nursing and dental students as well as qualified professionals , and working with real patients from the community , you ’ ll gain invaluable experience .

This dual role course , accredited by the GDC , gives you the skills , knowledge and experience required to register as both a dental hygienist and dental therapist with the GDC . From working with members of the wider dental team in our advanced Dental Academy , to delivering outreach dental work for patients from the local community , you ’ ll develop hygienist skills like scaling and polishing , taking dental X-rays , and giving advice on diet or dental hygiene , as well as therapist skills such as carrying out fillings and extractions .

DENTAL PRE-CLINICAL SKILLSLaboratory . Our laboratory takes pre-clinical skills development to the next level for our Dental Hygienist and Dental Therapist courses . Each station is equipped with a dental handpiece , suction , overhead dental lamp and computer monitor . This helps students develop their periodontal , restorative and paediatric dentistry skills .

Develop all the knowledge and practical skills required to achieve safe practitioner status , become a vital member of the dental team and register with the GDC when you graduate from this professionally accredited course .
