Some students come to us with more academic confidence than others . Our learning development tutors and the Academic Skills Unit ( ASK ) offer confidential , personalised tutorials to help you develop essential skills for success at a higher education level .

Maths Café
Offering free advice and help with mathematical skills in a friendly , informal environment , Maths Café serves around 1,000 students across the University . Come to daily drop-in sessions , develop your maths skills at a workshop or browse our resources online .

ResLife
The Residence Life Team provide welfare support 24 / 7 for those living in halls and private accommodation , plus varied social activities throughout the academic year .

• Our Student Wellbeing Service is here to give you extra emotional support when you need it , through workshops , courses , wellbeing advice , mental health support and counselling
• The Wellbeing Café is a staffed , friendly meeting place where students can seek and give support – it ' s based at Café Coco each week
• Feel Good Fest in February features craft workshops from local artists , live performances from student societies , sports sessions , food tasting and much more

Reflection , thought and prayer
Whatever your world view , our multi-faith Chaplaincy and prayer space are there to support you and provide a safe space . Pop in anytime for tea and a chat , about absolutely anything . A quiet room is always available for reflection , stillness and prayer , whether you ’ re a person of faith or not .
The Additional Support and Disability Advice Centre ( ASDAC )
If you have a disability , medical condition or additional learning need which may affect your ability to access the campus , curriculum , teaching , learning , assessment or University services , contact ASDAC for confidential advice and guidance .

All students are assigned a personal tutor , who provides pastoral care and supports your academic and professional development . They ’ ll help you gain new skills and perform at your best .

Keeping healthy
There are a number of GP surgeries close to the University and our halls . Please make sure you register with a local surgery and dentist – we have a comprehensive list for you to choose from .
Childcare on campus
If you have a child aged six months to five years , you may be able to get a place at our on-site nursery . It offers high-quality childcare for students but places are limited , so get in touch soon to discuss .
