Forensic Innovation Centre ( FIC )
Our partnership with Hampshire Constabulary sees , for the first time in the UK , operational police staff located on a university campus . The Constabulary ’ s scientific support staff work closely with academics and students to advance forensic education , research and innovation – which has a direct impact on real , professional forensic practice . Work placement opportunities give students the chance to boost their employability .
Bloomberg Suite
Access the same data , analytics and software used by over a quarter of a million finance professionals globally . Students monitor and analyse real-time financial market data movements , and trade virtually in the Portsmouth Business School Bloomberg Suite .
Replica courtroom
We ' re one of the few UK universities with a replica courtroom – a realistic copy of a Crown Court , where students can gain the practical experience they need to start their legal career , through mooting and simulated court cases .
Centre for Simulation in Health and Care
A simulated GP surgery , a mock dispensary , clinical skills simulation suite , one-bedroom flat and two acute hospital training wards .
Dental Pre-Clinical Skills Laboratory
26-seat laboratory for pre-clinical skill development for the Dental Hygienist and Dental Therapist courses . Skills developed are periodontal , restorative and paediatric dentistry .
Each station is equipped with a dental handpiece , suction , overhead dental lamp and computer monitor .
Motion capture studios
Creative students can work with commercial clients and studios who want to use our facilities , including the Vicon optical system .
Psychology students explore human movement , looking at how body language influences our appraisal of others and affects interpersonal interactions .
CCIXR
The Centre for Creative and Immersive XR ( eXtended Reality ) in partnership with Solent Local Enterprise Partnership and HM Government , is the UK ’ s first integrated facility to support innovation in the creative and digital technologies of virtual , augmented and extended realities , TV studios and photogrammetry .
Business facilities
The Business Simulation Suite is a flexible technologicallyenhanced learning facility . The room contains sliding partitions that can quickly transform the suite into a mock boardroom , a classroom , or a room for practising speech and presentation skills , and includes a podium and wall-mounted monitors for recording and playback .
We also have a superb provision of the latest equipment and tools that creative students can loan to get the best from their studies .
