How to apply When to apply
Entry requirements
• Applications to full-time degree programmes are normally made through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service ( UCAS ) at ucas . com . UCAS sends your application to us for consideration and we let you know as soon as we make a decision
• International and European students can apply through UCAS , overseas representatives or directly via port . ac . uk / applyonline . For further information , see port . ac . uk / global
• Applications for part-time and distance learning courses are made directly to the University at port ac . uk / apply-online

General entry requirements
We normally expect candidates to have two or three A levels , BTEC or equivalent qualifications in appropriate subjects . We also usually require applicants to have achieved five GCSEs , grades C / 4 or above , including English and Mathematics . We want to stress , though , that every candidate is assessed on individual merit , in line with our commitments to fair admissions .

International and EU students
The University accepts a range of international and EU qualifications . To find out the qualification requirements for your country , visit port . ac . uk / your-country .
International College Portsmouth ( ICP ) is an Associate College of the University of Portsmouth .
International students who need additional English language or academic preparation to study at the University can apply to ICP , where they will receive language and academic support for entry onto their course .
If English is not your first language
You will need a sufficient level of English for your chosen course . To demonstrate this , you will need to take an English language test and send us your results . UCAS tariff
• The UCAS tariff is the national system for allocating points to the wide range of qualifications that enable students to enter higher education
• The tariff helps us compare our applicants ’ different qualifications when we ' re making offers
