Business Management and Finance
BA (Hons)
Why study this course?
Business Management and Finance offers you the opportunity to gain a
broad understanding of how organisations operate with a particular focus
on financial institutions.
The course will help you to understand the basic principles of business
management with an emphasis upon using data to understand, interpret
and manage financial situations in a range of private and public sector
contexts. You will also have the opportunity to take a placement year
between years two and three of your studies.
You will learn to apply practical techniques for real world problem
solving, using industry standard software, such as Bloomberg, to present
and analyse business data. You will also learn about investor decision-
making and the roles of the markets, exploring concepts such as moral
hazard, adverse selection, information asymmetry, arbitrage, optimal risk
sharing and informational efficiency.
What will this mean for my future?
Your Business Management and Finance degree from Keele will prepare
you for a wide choice of careers. You might choose to work in a field
directly related to finance or to work as a management consultant or
follow a career in sales or marketing. You could also use your newly
acquired transferable skills to do something different such as working in
insurance, IT, journalism, statistics or the Civil Service. You will also be
equipped to undertake postgraduate studies in finance or management.
