BA (Hons)
Why study this course?
In today's globalised world, most organisations operate internationally. By taking
this course, you will be preparing yourself with the financial and international
management skills and knowledge to succeed in these organisations.
Exploring a range of business cases in strategy, reporting and
management, you will find out more about the way both national and
multi-national enterprises operate in the world. You will learn how
to use industry standard software such as Bloomberg and Sage to
organise, present and analyse business data and can opt to enhance
your employability skills by taking a placement year between years two
and three of your studies. Finance modules are designed to help you
understand the theories leading to the design of financial institutions, the
services they provide and the products they sell. Topics covered range
from optimal portfolio creation and management, to project appraisals
and financing, to risk management through the use of such derivatives
as options, futures and swaps. Our modules are accredited by chartered
organisations such as CIMA and the programme is recognised by
a number of professional accountancy bodies, that provide some
important exemptions from professional exams, should you choose to
further your career in accountancy.
What will this mean for my future?
With a solid understanding of management, accounting and finance
in their global context, you could work in a variety of roles. You may
work as an investment analyst, financial trader, banker or investment
banker, chartered or management accountant, or tax advisor anywhere
in the world. You could also decide to go on to study for a postgraduate
qualification in management, accounting or finance.
