Business and Management | 75 Accounting and Finance BA (Hons) Why study this course? This course gives you a breadth of academic and practical experience that will allow you to put theory into practice. With teaching staff from both research and business backgrounds, this course brings real-life examples and theory to life. Our programme, is recognised by global professional accountancy bodies and offers a number of important exemptions from their professional exams. You will develop expertise in accounting and finance, through both theoretical and practical study, enabling you to make an effective contribution in your chosen career. Our computer laboratories are equipped with industry leading software such as Bloomberg and Sage, providing you with experience and skills needed in the work place. You can build on this experience by choosing either a placement or international year between years two and three of your studies. You will study accountancy with a specialism in finance, exploring the design and use of accounting and financial systems and how they are affected by individuals, organisations, markets and society. Finance modules are designed to help you better understand the theories leading to the design of financial institutions, the services they provide and the products they sell. What will this mean for my future? A high percentage of business leaders have finance backgrounds, and our course has a strong employment rate. With the increasing internationalisation of business and capital markets, you will have extensive opportunities. You might choose to work in either the public or private sector, in positions such as accountant, commodities trader, finance graduate, management consultant, banker, or go into a management role.
