Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
Our large and multi-faceted Faculty
of Humanities and Social Sciences
draws on our progressive heritage
by seeking to ensure that we
respond effectively to the needs
of contemporary society, by:
• Preparing our students for a
future of creative and productive
teamwork in the world of work
and beyond.
• Seeking to ensure that they will
continue to be responsible,
engaged citizens of the world.
• Building on our reputation for an
outstanding student experience
and for excellent, transformative
research so that we can enhance
further the quality, quantity and
diversity of students at all levels
across the extensive breadth of
our educational provision.
Promoting cutting-edge studies,
our five Schools bring together
theoretically innovative work with
highly relevant applications to the
real world. Each School offers a range
of critical perspectives on various
aspects of economic, social and
cultural life, thereby illuminating
what it means to be human in a
world that is constantly undergoing
disruptive transformation. Our
Language Centre offers a wide range
of support in academic English and
provides study opportunities in many
other modern languages.
In summer 2019, Keele Business
School moved in to a new multi-
million pound facility which houses
both the Business School and state-
of-the-art facilities for business
collaboration and incubation in a
Smart Innovation Hub.
Our world-class research informs
our teaching and explores many
dimensions of theory, policy and
practice. Keele’s Institute for Social
Inclusion was established in 2018,
to seek to identify, explain and
overcome specific social, economic
and cultural obstacles to social
inclusion, in order to help people
realise their full potential on a local,
national and global scale.
