Social Work | 297 Social Work BA (Hons) Why study this course? This Single Honours degree will give you an appreciation of the diverse context of social work, highlighting how the profession works with service users in a variety of settings. You’ll consider how to work with individuals with mental healthcare or learning difficulties, very young children and adolescents, and older adults, as well as more specific groups. By the end, you will be critically reflective about what works in practice, skilled at how you will engage with those accessing social work services, and passionate and committed to making a difference for the more vulnerable populations in our society. What will this mean for my future? Registering as a social worker with Social Work England means you can work with any agency, statutory or voluntary, that provides a social work service to a diverse range of citizens. The degree will also open up a range of directly related careers in contexts, some of which may require additional training, such as health, charities, education, local government, probation and the prison service. Other options include working as a youth worker, careers advisor, community development worker or counsellor.
