Health and Wellbeing
BSc (Hons)
Why study this course?
This single honours degree programme enables students to understand
and critically analyse the broad range of issues and concepts which
affect the health of individuals, groups and communities locally, nationally
and internationally.
With the ever-changing challenges of our societies Health and Wellbeing
is focused on promoting healthier lifestyles to address issues such as
obesity, diabetes and mental health.
This will provide individuals who have a keen interest in health and
wellbeing to build a rewarding career where they can promote health and
wellbeing within different groups of people, or working in an environment
where having an understanding of the issues affecting our health
and wellbeing is important. The course will cover four themes which
are Academic, Personal and Professional Development, Health and
Wellbeing, Science of Health and Research.
A blended approach to teaching and learning will allow you to develop
your technical skills, theoretical understanding. At Keele, we provide
you with in-depth tutor support, to suit your needs, in a variety of areas
including academic and employability; to ensure you receive the help
needed to excel in your studies. Teaching will be delivered by experts at
Keele’s School of Nursing and Midwifery, based at the Clinical Education
Centre within the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, as
well as the main Keele campus where you will be part of our small, friendly
and cosmopolitan community.
What will this mean for my future?
This course will enable you to enter in to a role that includes a focus
on health and wellbeing across a range of sectors. Upon successful
completion of the course your skill set will have the potential to be highly
regarded and sought after by a range of employers looking to improve
health and wellbeing. This course opens a diverse range of career
opportunities. Paths you might take after graduating could span across
sectors such as education, health, not-for-profit organisations and the
leisure industry. Students may go on to study at MSc level, including a
range of Masters level programmes.
