Embracing Indiv W Sp Needs Prof Practi Current trends require the development of strategies and services to meet the needs of the growing adult populations of special needs individuals who live in the mainstream community . Meeting these needs presents unique challenges . This course focuses on the understanding , inclusion , and appreciation of people with special needs and their families in order to support the integration of people with disabilities into community life . The objectives provide for evidence- based practices that allow professionals to best meet the needs of these individuals and their families in a variety of disciplines . Since this course focuses on increasing the quality of life for an often oppressed segment of our society , it addresses the critical concern of non-violence of the Sisters of Mercy : Earth , nonviolence , women , racism , and immigration . This course meets the University ' s definition of writing intensive . |
