This course presents the potential for biological damage caused by radiation and how to eliminate or reduce it . Radiation units and quantities are discussed as well as methods of measurement . Dose limits for operators and patients are discussed with emphasis on the ALARA concept . Genetic and somatic effects are described as well as policies and practices to insure safe radiation limits are maintained . Agencies responsible for standards are also discussed . |

Clinical Education II |
Continuation of clinical education rotations in general radiography and fluoroscopy occur in this course . Observation and application of the principles and procedures introduced in general radiography and fluoroscopy are on-going throughout the course with opportunities for the student to perform initial competencies in the areas of the body that they have learned in the classroom and laboratory settings . |
