• Nutrition and science courses must have been completed within the past 7 years to be considered for transfer into the program . Statistics and Developmental Psychology must have been completed within the last 10 years .
• Required courses include Anatomy and Physiology I and II with labs , Microbiology with lab , General Chemistry II and lab or Gwynedd Mercy University ’ s Chemistry 111 For Allied Health Sciences and lab ( includes organic and inorganic chemistry and biochemistry ), Principles of Nutrition ( taught by a registered dietician ), Statistics , and Development Psychology ( covering the life span )

• After you have been accepted , you will need to take the following additional steps before beginning your nursing coursework :
• Pass a criminal background and child abuse records check
• * Undergo a drug screening and FBI fingerprinting * Provide a certificate of health from a primary care provider , including immunization information
• Provide proof of CPR certification and personal health insurance You will also need to obtain an annual flu vaccination and PPD screening throughout the duration of your program and meet vaccination requirements of your clinical sites . * These background checks require a U . S . social security number .
Advanced Placement Students Applicants who have completed work in Advanced Placement Programs in high school may submit the results of the Advanced Placement Examination of the University Entrance Examination Board .
College credit will be awarded for a satisfactory examination score of 3 or higher . Students awarded such credit in English or mathematics will not be required to take the placement test in that area . ( Refer to Placement Assessments for English and Mathematics ).
Dual Enrollment credits Students who have completed college credits while enrolled in high school are considered first- time freshman status upon enrollment at the university . In order for any college credits obtained in high school to be accepted , the credits must have been received from an accredited institution and the student must have received a C or higher in the course . Course equivalencies will be evaluated by the registrar ’ s office and program coordinator or program director for consideration for each individual program .
Transfer Students , Term Programs Applicants who have graduated from high school ( or earned their GED ) and then completed course work at another college or university with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale will be considered for admission with advanced academic standing . Some programs require a higher GPA .
Gwynedd Mercy University reserves the right to rescind admission should the student ’ s GPA fall below the cumulative 2.0 standard .
