Lawmakers and ethicists address compelling issues such as cyberbullying , privacy rights , mental health impacts and intellectual property as they arise . Explore regulation and ethics related to free expression , privacy , and data collection from the perspectives of media professionals , content creators , audiences and college students . Recent cases such as Facebook ' s privacy breaches , Instagram ' s negative impact on the mental health of teen girls are integrated into the course . Online behavior such as revenge , defamation and attempts at regulation through social media community rules and employer policies are addressed .

In this hands-on content creation course , students cover GMercyU events and issues with published video and audio content . Utilizing planning , interviewing , storytelling , production and post-production skills , students create a preprofessional portfolio of content . Pre-reqs : COMD301 , COMD302 This course is repeatable up to 3 times for a total of 3 credits .
