Academic Standards / Grade Requirements : A grade of C or higher is required in each of the major courses including those taken as general education requirements PSY 100 and SOC 100 . The Bachelor of Science in Psychology also requires that students receive a grade of C or higher in the two natural and computational science electives required for the BS core .
Attendance Policies : Students are expected to adhere to the attendance policies outlined by course instructors in individual courses .
Academic Progress , ( Probation ), and Program Dismissal : A student may achieve less than a “ C ” grade in only two major courses and he / she may repeat these courses only once . If a student , regardless of his / her cumulative grade point average , achieves less than a “ C ” grade on a third major course , or fails to bring all grades up to a “ C ” with one repeat he / she will be dismissed from the program . Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the Program Coordinator or the Dean .
Course Withdrawal Policies : Same as University
Experiential Learning : Students enrolled in the Psychology Program are required to engage in a practicum course which allows students to put theory into practice , observe professionals engaging their field of study , practice their skills under the supervision of seasoned professionals , network within their chosen field , and gain valuable experience . Practicum requirements are detailed in the Program Handbook . Students should consult with their academic advisor the year before they expect to complete their practicum .
NOTE : Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from off campus experiential learning opportunities .
4 + 2 Early Entry to the MS in Counseling Program : The Psychology Program also offers the opportunity for eligible students to apply for Early Entry to the Master of Science in Counseling Program . Students approved for Early Entry may take up to 12 credits of coursework from the M . S . in Counseling Program , which will count as undergraduate open electives and may also be used towards the MS in Counseling degree .
Early Entry to the Master of Public Health Program : Psychology majors have the opportunity to apply for early entry to the Master of Public Health Program . Students who are approved may take up to 12 credits of coursework from the MPH degree program , which will count as undergraduate open electives and may also be used towards the MPH degree .
