SPMT 353 Introduction to Sport Law This course is designed to address an increasing need for sport managers to be aware of the legal implications of their managerial performance . This course will introduce the legal issues facing those in the sports industry . The application of legal principles is considered in relation to professional and amateur sports . Student will analyze the legal and regularity aspects , elements , and relationships for all constituents participating in sports ; administrators , coaches , athletes , agents , vendors , sponsors , faculty managers and owners , and spectators . Seminal court cases are discussed . Students will examine relevant issues in sport law through case studies and in class court sessions .

Administration & Organization of Sport Operations
This course examines the organization and administration of operations in professional sports , intercollegiate and interscholastic athletics , recreation and fitness , and sport broadcasting and promotion . The focus of each industry studied is on how organizations in the industry plan and structure their organizations in an effort to meet their goals and competitively position themselves within the industry . Each organization is studied in terms of its mission , planning and decision-making process , budgeting and allocation of resources , and policies governing the implementation of plans for human resources , production , marketing , and product development . These industries were chosen because they represent the diversity of sport management applications and offer the opportunity for comparative study . Teams of students will carry out case studies and work with various sport events .
