This course provides students the opportunity to explore topics selected by the instructor . Course may be repeated if the topic changes . An introduction to the psychological , sociological and physiological dynamics of abuse , dependency , and addictions and an overview of counseling intervention models designed to help the student identify and become familiar with current counseling approaches in the treatment of addictions . May be taken for sociology credit .
