• Transfer credits for college-level English composition or college-level mathematics courses ( earned grade of C or better ) through the official acceptance of transfer credits by the Registrar ’ s Office at Gwynedd Mercy University
• A score of 29 or higher on the English or mathematics ACT test
Students will have access to online placement assessments through Canvas within one week of making their admission deposit . The assessments are available through the GMercyU Portal , with login credentials . The online placement assessments include objective questions in mathematics , as well as a written essay , questionnaire , and reading comprehension questions . The assessments are untimed , and retests are not permitted . NOTE : The writing you submit should be your own and written without any external assistance . Receiving help from another person or Artificial Intelligence violates our Academic Integrity policy ; further , it is essential for our assessment process that the writing you submit be typical of your writing . If you get help with your response , you may be placed in a class that is not best suited for your writing skills .
Students with documented disabilities who need accommodations , other than extended time , should make their needs known to the Director of Tutoring Services and Placement Assessments at least a week prior to taking the assessments . Email placementtesting @ gmercyu . edu for further information .
Placement Assessment Results Students will discuss their results with their advisors at the time of course registration . Students whose test results indicate that they can proceed with college-level writing courses may register for ENG 101 College English Workshop or ENG101 College English Seminar , depending on exact placement score . Students whose test results indicate that they need to develop their writing skills must register for and successfully complete ENG 002 Developmental Writing before enrolling in ENG 101 College English .
Students whose mathematics scores indicate they are prepared for college-level mathematics may register for most courses that require mathematics skills ; courses that require higher -level mathematic skills are identified by a course prerequisite . Students who do not meet the math level for their major or
the pre-requisite level for a course , must take either MTH 002 , Developmental Mathematics or MTH 003 , Bridge to Mathematics ( as determined by their advisor ) before enrolling in college-level mathematics and other courses that have mathematics components .

Keiss Library The Keiss Library provides students with the resources and assistance they need to be successful in their academic career . Resources include book and audiovisual collections , access to over 32,000 full-text electronic journals through subscription databases , as well as access to over 200,000 eBooks . Librarians and staff are available during all library hours 7 days a week to help students navigate its
resources . Librarians engage in both one-on-one and classroom instructions to enhance research skills .
